Coronavirus: "Ministers in favour to extend lockdown to prevent outbreak of infection in Nepal".-OnlyOnlineKhabar

The committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ishwar Pokhrel has decided to extend the ban on international flights.


According to the Prime Minister's Office Secretary Narayan Prasad Bidari, the government has added the ban until April 15, 2020, taking into account the risk of contagion of the coronavirus.

"Most of the ministers have suggested that we should not go any differently because there is a lockdown in India," he said.

The government had last Tuesday issued an order to stop all work and services except for seven days.

Examination of coronavirus test

It has decided to expand the laboratory in all provinces to test for coronavirus infection. The equipment required for this will be sent to the portable PCR province No 2, province no 5, Karnali and the far west.

One of the five PCRs arriving from China on Sunday morning is said to be backed up and used as needed.

Director General of the Department of Health Mahendra Prasad Shrestha said that experts have already been sent to Hetauda of province No.3 and Phokhara of Gandaki province.

Testing facility available only in Kathmandu has been started in Dharan of province No.1 also.

In each province, it has been decided to send PPE i.e one thousand for the health workers.
